hey whats a good way of starting a monday morning? Having someone spill your coffee on the way to work, by stuffing his front end up your ass

Traffic was moving along about 45 mph when it came to a complete stop. I hit the brakes and was able to stop in time, he didn;t.

the car seems fine, I drove away. the side piece kicked back into place. The tailpipe looks messed up, and the air system seemed to be leaking mush more that usual.

Whats it gunna cost?

Sounds like your still shaken up a little. Is there anyone in your work you can talk to over a cup/bottle of water (keep hydrated)? Even minor incidents can cause the response as a major incident.

Shit. Glad you are OK. I had something similar happen to me a few years ago. Traffic stopped on a major road and someone not paying attention just slammed right into the back of my car. Made it hard to focus for a few days, but things get back to normal.

If you have time, try to get to a doctor to get checked out. Even in a minor read-end accident you can mess up your neck and back in ways that might not be immediately apparent.

Damage looks north of $3k. If you get really lucky and everything is straight, a shop might be able to pull the dents in the tailgate. But I’d guess you’re looking at a new tailgate, new bumper, and exhaust work minimum if there is no unibody damage underneath. The worst part about replacing body panels is that paint is expensive and time consuming. It’ll be interesting to see if the insurance company decides to pay for a repair or will just write you a check. Repair could take a few weeks.

Not sure how it works in no-fault states like MA, but in my case, the insurance of the owner of the car that hit me paid for my rental the whole time which made getting over the whole ordeal much easier.

That’s worrying. There’s other factors to consider aside from book value, but that amount does not bode well. You may want to ask his insruance company what all they consider when deeming a car a total loss as far as the value of the vehicle. The one I work for uses JD Power and Associates and vehicles within a couple hundred miles that are for sale or recently sold that have close to the same amount of miles and options. We don’t use KBB or NADA. Each one may be different though. Either way, I do wish you the best and hope that it isn’t totalled.

If our solders are stiff, I recommend using stranded wire vs solid core. Stranded is much more flexible.

I don’t blame you. I was shaken up when I almost got run off the road so I can’t imagine actually getting hit. Adrenaline is crazy.

Get some water, find a place to just sit and breath. I know it sounds lame but I actually do that to try and calm down...stop, close eyes, focus on breathing and nothing else.

yea i took a minute before I drove away. I got hit near the bottle of the picture. I had moved my car into the infield between the offramps to minimize traffic obstruction. when I left I got to drive across the grass. that was kinda fun. My brother in law passed by like half an hour after and the sentra was still sitting there. he said traffic was all fucked up

I saw the same thing happen with a Cavalier vs a B5 Passat. The Cavalier (relatively new at the time) was totalled, and the Passat barely had a scratch. Sorry that happened :(

I’ve been noticing a crazy amount of people not paying attention on rt 3 lately. I was driving to my mom’s yesterday and someone was drifting a couple feet over the lane markers and being a left lane hog as I was trying to go around people. Finally just blasted through cuz I didn’t want to chance it. Same thing coming back and my gf said “she doesn’t even have her hands on the wheel! she’s using Pandora or something on her phone.”

Fuck.

i dont even think he touched the hatch. We were looking at it at the aprasal shop, opened it and latched fine and no dents other than the two from the previous owners bike rack. he asked if they were there and then saw that there were two and said nah they had to have been there. i’m a little nervous he broke the paint seal where the bumper touches the fender and the air ride seems to be losing air quicker than usual
